RIDE- UGANDA is grassroots  not for profit organisation initiated  and governed by the local people of  Kayunga District  . Our grassroots services rotate around  Child Education Literacy, Vocational and Micro-entrepreneurial Skills Training Rural Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Menstrual Waste Management & Disposal Livelihoods and Economic Empowerment Promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls Improving health seeking behaviour and health outcomes

Kayunga District is a rural district located in Central Uganda along River Nile curved out of Mukono District. The residents of the District are very ethnically diverse:

There are 52 different tribes that comprise Kayunga District.

The majority of the population belongs to the Baganda Tribe of Central Uganda, the Banyala Tribe, and Refugee Populations from other East and Central African countries fleeing hardship surviving on Peasant Agri-business. Most villages in our district are not connected to the National Power Grid. Equally most of the Community members are of very low education levels with alarmingly high unemployment rates and poverty situation.

The high youth unemployment rate in Kayunga is attributed to the slow economic growth, small formal labour markets, high population growth rate, lack of sufficient experience and skills, lack of decent work, the rigid education system, rural-urban migration, limited social networks, youth’s limited access to capital support systems among others. In these Communities Girls and Women do most of the domestic chores and digging while the Boys and Men entertain themselves in Trading Centres gossiping, boozing as they play cards and board games. No wonder the area has a high incidence of HIV/AIDS.
